COURT HOUSE– A record number of people came to the Cape May County Park and Zoo on October 23rd for the annual “Boo at the Zoo” event hosted by the Board of Chosen Freeholders. The free event included games, prizes, candy and entertainment.
More than 1,500 people came to the Cape May County Park and Zoo to participate in this year’s event including children dressed at pirates, princesses and even the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
The Halloween costume contest included a parade through the zoo. Prizes were awarded to first, second and third place winners in categories ranging from infants and toddlers to groups. The following is a list of this year’s costume contest winners.

Also, visitors enjoyed a live creepy creature animal show and the Valhallas Pirates, a family friendly pirate show that was new this year and featured sword fighting, gunshots and cannon fire.
The Cape May County Park and Zoo is located on Route 9 North in Cape May Court House, exit 11 off the Garden State Parkway. The free Zoo is open, weather permitting, 364 days a year – closed on Christmas Day.
