VILLAS — It’s not easy getting around Villas lately, but take heart, the $2-milllion county repaving of Bayshore Road will be done in four to five block segments, and be completed by Memorial Day Weekend.
That was County Engineer Dale Foster’s report to freeholders at the Tue. April 26 meeting.
Last week, the repaving project got off to a rocky start, and that left a lot of angry residents.
“I’m sure you know how disturbed the people are on Bayshore Road,” said Freeholder Gerald Thornton, who added, “I had a lot of phone calls.”
Foster said the contractor accepted the blame, but Thornton said that some were upset since it impacted business having the road closed.
Foster said the Tampa Avenue to Pacific Avenue segment would b e next, and said excavation would be done and “the base paved by next Friday.”
The project in Lower Township was but one of many that are taking place, Foster said.
Another, that was to start Wed., April 27, is in North Wildwood, where drainage and resurfacing will take place on New Jersey Avenue. The work there is being done south to north, he added.
Like the Villas project, the North Wildwood work, which also includes curbs and sidewalks, is scheduled to be completed by Memorial Day.
Additionally, Foster reported that J.F. Kiely Construction Co., which was installing gas lines for South Jersey Gas Co., and which had to place those pipes in the center of several county roads, including Goshen Road in Court House will begin restoration work in the next few days.
Foster said that Magnolia Drive, in Court House had been milled between Court House-South Dennis Road and Church Street, and was to be paved April 26.
He also reported that Kiely Construction would be doing another storm drainpipe installation at Johnstown Lane and Shunpike in Court House.
