STONE HARBOR – Admitting that most of the feedback she has received was negative; Stone Harbor Mayor Judith Davies-Dunhour said that the borough council still had to decide if it would extend parking meter use past the traditional Oct. 1 shut-off date.
The proposal to extend the use of meters in an area surrounding the business district is under consideration because employees of the businesses allegedly scoop up the prime parking spaces as soon as the meters go inactive, leaving customers and others to search for space even in the off-season.
Davies-Dunhour said that the committee revising the master plan is wrestling with the problem of parking in and out of season. That leaves the longer term solution to the master plan group. The council is still considering whether the meters will go off or stay on come Oct. 1.
