Outcry Nixes One-Way Streets

By Camille Sailer

SEA ISLE CITY – At its April 10 meeting, Sea Isle City Business Administrator George Savastano, informed City Council of some concerns he had received because of the city’s intent to make 40th, 51st, and 52nd streets one-way. “We recommended an ordinance, but we have not yet implemented it by putting up the appropriate signs. Making these streets one-way makes sense, and the police department agreed for safety reasons, especially in summer. However, because of the feedback we’ve gotten from property owners that they either did not see the notice in the Sea Isle City newsletter or do not agree with this measure, we are recommending that we evaluate conditions along these streets during the summer season and revisit implementation or not in the fall.”
