Open Space Funds Expected

By Camille Sailer

SEA ISLE CITY – Mayor Leonard Desiderio announced at Sea Isle City’s Council meeting Oct. 9 that the municipality expected to be awarded $935,605 of county Open Space funding to improve the fishing pier and construct a kayak launch on the bayside area behind the hockey courts at Dealy Field. “Final approval, which I’m confident will be forthcoming, is scheduled for the next freeholders’ meeting,” Desiderio said. Council president Jack Gibson added, “I’m pleasantly surprised by the design drawing I saw for this project. We’ll be having soon a presentation for the public; it’s a nice grant and a nice project.”
