Old Cases Dismissed

Court Gavel Image

By Vince Conti

TRENTON – Earlier this month, the New Jersey Supreme Court issued an order dismissing 787,764 outstanding minor municipal court cases and warrants. The cases have been pending since 2003.
The court order dismisses the cases, recalls warrants associated with them, and rescinds any court action to suspend or revoke driver’s licenses. The order states that “those old outstanding complaints and open warrants in minor matters raise questions of fairness.”
A database has been established so that individuals can check to see if outstanding matters against them are included in the dismissed cases. The database can be found at https://bit.ly/2B31McU
