CREST HAVEN – Freeholders passed a resolution July 12 agreeing to settle with former County Counsel Barbara Bakley-Marino for a work-related injury claim.
The document stated she filed a workers’ compensation claim petition for “an apparent work-related injury.” The amount of settlement was for $254,840 as agreed to June 14 and approved by Judge of Workers Compensation Court Carmine Taglialatella. Bakley-Marino’s attorney was D’Arcy John Day.
Appointed to Board
The board reappointed to the Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Board, Michael Kolakowski of Cape May, Bobbi Jo Taylor of Wildwood and Donna Groome of Villas for three years until June 30, 2019.
Appointed to the same board was Tom Maletto of Linwood, Patrick Brooks of Wildwood and Deborah Lukens of Cape May. They, too, will serve for three years until June 30, 2019. All are volunteers who service without compensation.

Awarded to Hill International Inc. of Philadelphia a $725,000 contract for construction management and special inspection services of the new correctional center.
Approved a change order for $31,800 to L.R. Kimball for professional services for plan revisions of the correctional center.
Awarded to Eddie’s Auto Body Shop, Inc. and Hi-Tech Auto and Truck Service Center Inc. contracts through July 12, 2017, to perform repairs and maintenance on county vehicles. There are two, one-year options to renew.
Accepted a proposal from Urban Engineers Inc. for $316,171 for engineering services for Broadway-Seashore Road (CR 626) from Sunset Boulevard in West Cape May to Sandman Boulevard in Lower Township.
Approved permission to Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May to close a portion of Delaware Avenue (CR 640) in Cape May for dragon boat races Sept. 24.
Approved an application for state aid by the Department of Mosquito Control to seek $23,000 from the state for mosquito control.
Authorized a $37,400 change order with architects Buell Kratzer Powell Ltd. for evaluation of the existing county microwave network for Lower Township Public Safety Building.
