CREST HAVEN – Oct. 6 has been designated as Knock Out Opioid Abuse Day in Cape May County.
Freeholders approved the designation Sept. 25 via a resolution.
The document states the state is in “the midst of a life-threatening opioid abuse epidemic.”
In concert with the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, the county noted that, on Oct. 5, “various information will be distributed throughout the county: Knock Out Opioid Abuse Day door tags, physician resource booklets, medicine drop box placards, and treatment information will be made available.”
In other business the board:
* Awarded a not-to-exceed $100,000 contract to Triad Associates to administer the $3-million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration for the Tech Village Project, Phase One at the Cape May County Airport.
* Approved a shared services agreement with the South Jersey Economic Development District to provide planning services to the county for a place at the county airport deemed “Area in Need of Redevelopment.”
* Gave permission to the Cape May Running Co. to close part of Beach Avenue Oct. 27 from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. for its annual “Hollowed Half Marathon.”
* Approved an indemnification agreement for participants in the Crest Best 10-miler to use Ocean Drive east of Middle Thorofare Bridge during the Oct. 7 event sponsored by DelMoSports LLC.
* Approved a request from Lower Township Rotary Club to close a portion of Breakwater Road Dec. 8 in Lower Township for their Christmas parade.
