OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Police Department received a Level 6 Agency Second Place Award on May 19 from the Chief’s of Police Association and the New Jersey Office of Highway Traffic Safety.
This award is given to agencies with staffing levels of 46 — 75 sworn officers.
The award recognizes and rewards the best overall traffic safety programs in the United States.
The areas of concentration include efforts to enforce laws and educate the public about occupant protection, impaired driving, and speeding.
The winning safety programs are those that combine officer training, public information and enforcement to reduce crashes and injuries within the jurisdiction.
The award was presented at the annual luncheon held in East Windsor, New Jersey.
The key note speaker at the event was Pamela S. Fischer, Governor’s Representative, New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic safety.
