OCEAN CITY — On July 25, at 3:08 a.m., the Ocean City Police Department received a report of two males breaking into parked vehicles in the vicinity of Safe Harbor Drive.
Victim reported seeing two white males inside of his vehicle one on each side of the car. The victim watched the two suspects run and enter a vehicle that was parked nearby.
The suspects then fled in that vehicle southbound toward Strathmere on Ocean Drive. The victim was able to provide a description of the fleeing vehicle to the police department.
Officers from Ocean City Police and Sea Isle Police were alerted to the description of the fleeing vehicle and suspects. A short time later Ptl. Thomas Strunk located the suspect vehicle in Strathmere and conducted a motor vehicle stop.
Strunk was assisted at this location by the Sea Isle City Police Department. Evidence found during the motor vehicle stop indicated that the suspects had been involved with multiple burglaries. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Ocean City Police Department for further investigation.
Based on evidence found in the suspects’ vehicle and interviews of the suspects. it was discovered that several vehicles had been entered in Strathmere and Sea Isle City by the suspects.
At the time of this press release one victim has been identified in Ocean City and between 10–15 victims in the other jurisdictions. The investigation is ongoing with additional charges pending the outcome of that investigation by the New Jersey State Police and Sea Isle City Police Department.
The investigation was conducted locally by Ptl. Thomas Strunk, Sgt. Michael Tabor and Det. Sgt. Dennis Jones.
Arrested were: Alex K. Azer, 18, of Wilmington, Del. Bail $15,000 full cash
He was charged with:
1) Burglary
2) Theft
3) Credit Card Theft
4) Conspiracy
5) Possession Marijuana
6) Possession Drug Paraphernalia
Also, a 17-year-old juvenile from Sewell. He was released to guardian
