OCEAN CITY — During the week of Sunday, Dec. 7 to Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, members of Ocean City Police Department responded to 643 calls for service, an average of 92 per day.
The following is a summary of the more serious calls:

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENTS:
• The Ocean City Police Department is now actively running Aggressive Driving Patrols daily. Please be advised that this is a zero tolerance program. Areas of concern include; pedestrian safety and crosswalks, cell phones, seat belts, speeding and road rage incidents. This is being done during the busy Holiday Shopping Season and to increase traffic safety awareness throughout the city.
• The Police Department is also adding extra patrols over the Holiday Season in an effort to enforce Driving While Intoxicated Laws. Please do not Drink and Drive and do not allow a friend or loved one to operate a vehicle when under the influence.
• The Police Department is taking an active roll in policing the areas around the Schools during the drop off and pick up times. Parents are reminded that they are not allowed to double park, all crosswalks should be used and no drop offs are allowed along Bay Ave., in front of the Intermediate School.
• Just a reminder that All-Way Stop Signs have been installed throughout the city on Central Avenue and Simpson Avenue. Please take extra precautions when approaching intersections.
• The Ocean City Police Department announced the name of the new K-9 Police Dog this week. The name is “Deuce”; this name was selected by 8 year old Brad “Deuce” Tucker of the Primary School. Congratulations to Brad and to the new K-9 dog Deuce and his Handler, Ptl. John Vogt.
• On Dec. 13, 2008, The Ocean City Police Dept. Community Policing Unit assisted with the energy awareness campaign of distributing energy efficient light bulbs throughout the city for exterior porch lights.
