Ocean City Cops Hold Charitable Chase on Boardwalk

PRESS RELEASE FROM OCEAN CITY POLICE:
OCEAN CITY — On Saturday June 13th, 2009 the Ocean City Police Department’s Community Policing Unit along with PBA #61 hosted their 14th Annual COP Chase 5k run/walk. All proceeds from the event go to Local PBA #61. These monies are strictly used to fund the many charitable contributions that the union gives through out the community including the Christmas Toy Drive, free bike helmets to OC youth and scholarships for the graduating OCHS seniors.
The event started back in 1995 and hosted fifty-eight runners. Each year the race has grown with this year totaling over 400 runners/walkers. Following the race, the event also hosted the Kids Fun races which had over 60 children participate. Three children’s bicycles, donated by Annarelli’s Bikes and Tuckahoe Bikes, were given away at the conclusion.
The Ocean City Police Department along with Local PBA #61 would like to thank the many local businesses for their support especially The Sneaker Shop and Gillians Wonderland Pier. The race was produced utilizing all local businesses.
