OCEAN CITY – City Council unanimously introduced a $6.65-million bond ordinance to help the city’s Housing Authority fund projects, including a new building at Bayview Manor at 610 West Ave.
Plans call for residents of the north side of the flood-prone Pecks Beach Village development to be moved to the new project.
The ordinance is set for a public hearing and final vote March 28, starting 7 p.m. at the third floor of City Hall, 861 Asbury Ave.
At the March 14 meeting, Dave Hayes, president of Fairness in Taxes, told City Council the members of his organization are sympathetic to those who need housing, but do not believe Ocean City taxpayers should fund the work.
City officials say the project is part of the required affordable housing plan.
Also, the city introduced a $7.5-million bond ordinance to fund capital projects, also set for a public hearing and final vote March 28.
