North Wildwood Reorganizes; Looks Forward to 2009 Budget Process

By Lauren Suit

NORTH WILDWOOD — Mayor Bill Henfey told residents at the first council meeting of 2009 that in looking ahead to the budget process, “it will take all of us working together to complete a budget that we all can afford.”
Henfey told those assembled Jan. 6 to watch the city’s reorganization, that despite the number of projects planned for the upcoming year, including the handicapped-access ramp for the seawall, renovations to City Hall and police headquarters and street improvements, residents wouldn’t see any spike in taxes.
Henfey noted that many of the projects already have funding in place, such as federal and state grants. The projects funded by the city through debt service.
The reorganization meeting was spent administering the Oath of Office to two veterans council members, electing the Council President, and appointing the city’s professional positions.
Judge Louis Belasco swore in council members Robert McCullion and Kellyann Tolomeo, who represent the 1st and 2nd Wards, respectively.
Councilman Patrick Rosenello was elected to serve his fifth term as council president.
The mayor’s and professional appointments brought no major changes to the city.
