By Press Release

NORTH WILDWOOD — Chief Matthew Gallagher and Captain Kevin Tolan (Accreditation Manager) appeared before the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police Accreditation Commission in South Brunswick, NJ on March 9, 2017. At the conclusion of the accreditation hearing, official accredited status was granted to the North Wildwood Police Department. It is through the efforts of the men and women of the North Wildwood Police Department that enabled the Police Department to attain their accreditation status.
Accreditation is a progress and time-proven method of assisting law enforcement agencies to calculate and improve their overall performance. The foundation of Accreditation lies in the adoption of standards containing a clear statement of professional objectives. Participating agencies conduct a thorough self-analysis to determine how existing operations can be adapted to meet these standards and objectives. When the procedures are in place, a team of trained, independent assessors verifies that the applicable standards have been successfully implemented.
Accredited status represents a significant professional achievement and acknowledges the implementation of policies and procedures that are conceptually sound and operationally effective. A representative from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police Accreditation Program will present the North Wildwood Police Department with the State Accreditation Certificate at a future Council Meeting.
