North Wildwood Officers Receive Awards for 2016 Actions

NORTH WILDWOOD – Chief Matthew Gallagher recently presented multiple awards and commendations to officers and dispatchers at the department’s annual Christmas Party/Awards Ceremony Dec. 12, 2016 in North Wildwood.
Life Saving Awards were given to the following officers:
– Sgt. Adam McGraw for his actions during Winter Storm Jonas including carrying a victim with life-threatening injuries through flood waters on 24th Avenue Jan. 23, 2016.
– Officer Bryan Skill and Officer Steven Ransom for their actions involving a water rescue of multiple victims in distress in the ocean at 13th Avenue Aug. 6, 2016
Educational Achievement Award was given to the following officer:
– Capt. Kevin Tolan for his actions preparing the department for Law Enforcement Accreditation by the New Jersey State Assocation of Chiefs of Police.
Distinguished Unit Citations were issued to the following officers and dispatchers:
– Capt. John Stevenson, Lt. William Etsell, Sgt. Brian Harkins, Officer Laura Loftus, Det. Daniel Schules, Officer James Flynn, Officer Jerald Garriott, Officer Justin Robinson, Officer Joseph Kopetsky, Officer Steven Ransom, Officer Daniel Hartman, Disp. Lucille DeHorsey, Disp. Jody Goodroe, Disp. Daniel McDonald and Disp. Carin Vey for their actions throughout the City of North Wildwood during Winter Strom Jonas Jan. 23, 2016.
Certificate of Commendations were issued to the following officers and dispatchers:
– Officer Jerald Garriott and Officer Bryan Skill for their actions involving an unresponsive victim on 21st Avenue July 10, 2016.
– Capt. John Stevenson, Sgt. Matthew Mattera, Officer Michael Griser, Officer Laura Loftus, Det. Daniel Schules, Officer James Flynn, Officer Steven Ransom, Officer Gary Tunnicliffe and Disp. Daniel McDonald  for their actions involving a subject in distress armed with a weapon on Surf Avenue Oct. 21, 2016.
