OCEAN CITY – On October 9, 2011, at 11:42 p.m., the Ocean City Police Department, responded to a reported suspicious person attempting to open bank accounts with false identification. As the officer arrived the suspect was seen fleeing the bank parking lot, in a white Honda, in an erratic manner, in the direction of the 900 block of Simpson Avenue. With the police officers in pursuit of the fleeing vehicle it continued to travel at a high rate of speed southbound on Simpson Avenue toward 16th Street. The vehicle was occupied by three occupants. The suspect vehicle stopped at 16th Street and all occupants exited the vehicle in an attempt to elude the responding police officers. A short time later all suspects were located and taken into custody by the officers.
The investigating officers, Sgt. Pat Randles Ptl. Doug Swillo and Ptl. Tyrone Rolls filed several motor vehicle charges against the driver of the vehicle Ivan Gonzalez Pagan Torres,31, of North Wildwood. Additionally the suspect was charged with criminal offenses for forgery and identity theft by Det. Mark Pancoast during the follow up investigation. The passengers in the vehicle were family members of Torres and have not been charged at the time of this press release. Torres was released on a summons at the conclusion of the investigation.
