North Wildwood Fire Department Receives Award

By Press Release

NORTH WILDWOOD – The North Wildwood Fire Department recently received the “2011 Life Safety Achievement Award” for outstanding efforts on behalf of fire and life safety.
The National Fire Research & Education Foundation, Residential Fire Safety Institute and Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance presented the award.
This award is for community involvement and educational programs, as well as for assisting other communities in helping to raise fire safety consciousness.
Targeting both adults and students, several demonstrations and classes are held throughout the year by members of the Fire Department. Visits to local schools and participation in community events such as National Night Out, Crime Watch Meetings and other community outreach programs allow for both adult and student participation.
Life and health safety hazards affect various age groups in different ways with each season of the year posing specific hazards. Through proactive prevention and educational programs most of these issues are preventable.
Recent partnership with The National Drowning Prevention Association (NDPA) will provide invaluable education targeting the owners and users of swimming pools.
The Fire Prevention and Inspection Division operates under the Fire Department’s administration. Members of both divisions have worked together closely to continuously improve community involvement and safety awareness. Receiving this award is testament to their professionalism, dedication, and community pride.
Fire Chief Jeffrey Cole said, “We are proud to have been selected for recognition of our efforts. However it would not be possible without the cooperation of the City and the public. We thank them for their participation and commitment to public safety.”
Mayor Bill Henfey said, “I am happy to congratulate Fire Chief Cole and the entire department on this well-earned award. And I want to thank them for all they do year round.”
