AVALON – Avalon Borough Council has dealt with a series of meetings this summer that provoked more than the usual level of public interest.
Public outrage concerning noise, pollution, safety, and parking at construction sites was one issue that dominated a great deal of public comment all summer, comment that involved some second homeowners who normally display little interest in such meetings.
Through it all, a group of citizens advocating the video streaming of meetings has used the issues and the interest generated to continue the push for remote access to meetings.
At the Aug. 8 council work session one resident polled the public in attendance as a way of demonstrating support.
That prompted Council member Charles Covington to remind those present that council had been polled at an earlier meeting. “We said no,” an exasperated Covington said.
