NORTH WILDWOOD – The City of North Wildwood has reached a ‘State Aid Agreement’ with the Department of Environmental Protection for Project No. 4281-16, Emergency Sand for Dune Reconstruction. The money committed by NJDEP will reimburse the City for the emergency work that was completed due to a massive breach in the City’s dune system that occurred as a result of Winter Storm Jonas. According to the State Aid Agreement, the Department of Environmental Protection has approved a grant for Fiscal Year 2016 on a 100% State and 0% Municipality cost-share basis, in an amount not to exceed $133,450.00 for emergency beach repair and stabilization measures.
“I would like to thank the State of New Jersey and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for their financial assistance after one of the worst storms in our history”, said Mayor Patrick Rosenello. “Without this emergency project, our beach and infrastructure would have sustained catastrophic damages from subsequent tidal events this winter,” said Mayor Rosenello.
