By Press Release

WILDWOOD – Through the efforts of Remington, Vernick & Walberg Engineers, over $12 million in funding was provided to the City of Wildwood through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s (NJDEP) Flood Hazard Risk Reduction & Resiliency Program, a result of Super Storm Sandy in 2012. The $50 million Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development.
The grant money was procured for improvements along Pacific Avenue to redirect stormwater from five beach outfalls to one outfall extending 300 feet from the shoreline. For more than 15 years flooding has been an issue along the City’s business district. A pump station is planned for Leaming Avenue near the Boardwalk with a pipe to pump the water into the ocean. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the Summer of 2018. Remington, Vernick & Walberg Engineers prepared and submitted the grant application package and is providing the design of the new pump station to alleviate the stormwater issues.
