Night Construction Scheduled for Wildwood Entrance/Exit

By Press Release

WILDWOOD – Commuters using Route 47 to enter and exit the City of Wildwood may find themselves in a construction zone this April as part of the roadway undergoes a facelift.
According to Thomas Gallagher, Resident Engineer for the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), milling, paving and striping of the roadway will begin some time during the month of April, with completion anticipated by April 30.
Work will take place on both the northbound and southbound sides of Route 47 from milepost .7, near the wicker store, to milepost .9, the George Reading Bridge.
In order to not to interfere with traffic, work will be conducted each evening from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day. Work on the project is weather-dependent and modifications to the schedule may be necessary to compensate for weather-related delays.
Once work has begun, however, Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano urges commuters to heed signs and detours.
“Please pay close attention,” said Troiano. “We are making the necessary improvements to ensure that entering and exiting Wildwood is a more pleasant experience.”
Gallagher also stated paving of the northbound lanes of Route 47 from the George Reading Bridge to the Garden State Parkway entrance will begin shortly.
