New Lifeguard Stands

STONE HARBOR – Stone Harbor Beach Patrol is moving from the old, traditional, wooden lifeguard stands to a lighter, more durable, aluminum version.
Fifty pounds lighter than the wooden ones, the new stands make it easier for guards to adjust their location as the tide changes. Yet, tradition has its value, as the old, wooden stands, – most in need of significant repair – are suddenly a hot item. Mayor Judith Davies-Dunhour told borough council that she has been approached by a number of individuals who want to purchase one or more of them.
The likely solution is that the borough will offer some of the chairs that are in the best condition for sale, with a possible minimum price of $50, before disassembling the chairs that do not sell.
