STONE HARBOR – The Borough of Stone Harbor’s Code Red Emergency Notification System has been updated, and the new improvement allows residents and visitors to sign up to receive weather alerts directly from the National Weather Service. When severe weather strikes, seconds can make a difference in how people prepare and respond.
According to a release, these automatic notifications deliver another layer of preparedness and protection in an extreme weather situation. Weather warnings are launched moments after a bulletin is issued by the National Weather Service directly to the public.
Using information and technology provided by NWS to define a storm’s direction and speed, the CodeRED Weather Warning geographically targets notifications to reach only those in the projected path of the storm, increasing relevance and reducing false alarms. Types of warnings issued are varied, and each is available to areas prone to specific weather conditions, including severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, flash floods, winter storms and tsunamis.
These notifications ensure that citizens and emergency staff that may be threatened by local severe weather are notified and informed throughout a disruptive time. Anyone who has previously subscribed to the borough’s Emergency Telephone Contact Service is encouraged to sign up again through SHNJ.org.
Cape May County – I would probably be a lefty if they weren’t so bent on bankrupting us both financially and morally.
