Narcotics Investigation Leads to Arrest; Heroin Seized

WILDWOOD – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Wildwood Police Chief Steve Long announce the arrest of Victor Novoa-Fonseca, 28 of Wildwood for charges of possession and distribution of controlled dangerous substances Feb. 26.
The arrest is the result of a joint narcotics investigation conducted by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force and members of the Wildwood Police Department. On Feb. 26, a court authorized search warrant was executed by the Cape May County Regional S.W.A.T team in the 200 East Block of Spicer Avenue in Wildwood. As a result of the investigation, an amount of heroin was seized along with an amount of percocet, a schedule II controlled dangerous substance obtained without a valid prescription and drug paraphernalia.
As a result, Novoa-Fonseca was arrested by members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and Wildwood Police Department and charged with the following:
Possession of heroin, a crime of the third degree.
Possession of Percocet, a crime of the third degree.
Possession of Cocaine, a crime of the third degree.
Distribution of Cocaine, a crime of the third degree.
Possession of drug paraphernalia, a disorderly person’s offense.
Novoa-Fonseca was committed to the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $20,000 cash bail on the above charges in addition to $120,000 full cash bail warrant for unrelated criminal charges out of the Wildwood Municipal Court.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a third degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of up to 3 to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison. Prosecutor Taylor commented that his office will continue to will continue to work with the local municipalities to aggressively investigate and seek out these individuals who continue to illegally distribute CDS throughout Cape May County. The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
