By Herald Staff

NORTH WILDWOOD — Incumbent First Ward Councilman Robert Maschio has decided not to seek the Republican nomination for a council seat in the November election.
“I have enjoyed my five years on the North Wildwood City Council,” Maschio said in a release. “This has been one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made. It is in the best interest of my family, and the city, that I not seek re-election in the November, 2010 election”.
Maschio is the owner and president of Coastal Broadcasting Systems, Inc., which operates WCZT 98.7…the Coast and WFNE Fun 106.7 radio stations in Cape May County.
“I have truly enjoyed my tenure on city council, and I have made some good friends along the way,” Maschio said. “However, as a small business owner, the demands on my time have never been greater, and I want to make sure that the First Ward is represented by someone who has the time and energy to devote to a council seat, which at times, is a full-time job.”
Maschio was elected to the North Wildwood City Council in 2005, Served as the At Large Councilman from 2005-07, then served as the 1st ward councilman from 2008-10.
“I want to thank the North Wildwood Republican Organization, Mayor Bill Henfey, and Council President Patrick Rosenello for their unwavering support and guidance during my five years on city council,” Maschio said. “Most importantly, I want to thank the residents of the city for affording me the opportunity to serve them. I am very confident our party will select a candidate with great credentials and positive energy to continue the forward thinking, Republican leadership in North Wildwood.”
