‘My County Poster’ Winners Given Prizes

COURT HOUSE – Twelve fourth graders, all winners in the 18th Annual My County Poster Contest, were honored on Wednesday, April 21 at the Cape May County Courthouse.
The contest is sponsored annually by Cape May County’s Constitutional Officers – Surrogate W. Robert Hentges, Sheriff Gary G. Schaffer and County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti to promote the varied functions of county government with fourth graders who study local government as part of their curriculum.
The winning posters were selected from 412 entries from students of 13 elementary schools.
Each winner was presented a personalized ceramic mug with his or her name and artwork and a book bag filled with items. 2nd and 3rd place winners each receive a $50 savings bond. The first place winner Allison Sannino of Upper Township Elementary school will receive a $100 savings bond and a pizza party lunch in her homeroom class on April 27.
The winning posters are on display until April 30 in the West Lobby of the Cape May County Court House to commemorate April as National County Government Month. These posters will be featured on a 2010-2011 school year calendar distributed throughout the elementary schools in the Fall.
