STONE HARBOR — SLEO II Officers Andrew Peahota and Jessica Lettieri conducted a motor vehicle stop on a subject for lights required at night. Upon approaching the vehicle, a clear bag with a crystallized substance was observed in the car. Further investigation led to the arrest of the driver and passenger for possessing a controlled dangerous substance. The Cape May County Sheriff’s Department was called for a drug K-9. After a positive hit on the car by the dog, a search warrant was sought by DSG Christopher Palmer and authorized by Sea Isle City Municipal Judge Vincent Morrison and the vehicle was impounded.
Subsequent to the administration of field sobriety tests on the driver, a search warrant was sought and authorized by Middle Township Municipal Judge George Neidig for blood to be drawn at Cape Regional Medical Center.
Several glassine bags were found in the vehicle and on the driver. The driver was charged with DUI, operating with drugs in a motor vehicle, lights required at night, drug paraphernalia, and third degree possession of CDS. Charges were placed on a warrant with $10,000 full cash bail. Conor Woods, the passenger, was charged with drug paraphernalia and third degree possession of CDS. His charges were also placed on a warrant with $10,000 full cash bail imposed. Both were transported to the Cape May County Correctional Facility. The drugs are believed to be “Molly” or MDMA, a pure form of the chemical contained in ecstasy.
The case was investigated by DSG Christopher Palmer and Detective David Hartzell. The case is pending review by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
