COURT HOUSE — Shared service agreements with 11 municipalities and the Cape May County Library Commission for storage of electronic records were approved by freeholders Tue., Aug. 9.
“Cape May County and the following 10 municipalities have approved a joint service project for the secondary storage of vital records in electronic format,” stated Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti.
Those municipalities join the Township of Upper whose Electronic Data Storage Agreement has been in place since 2008 to number 11 municipalities, along with Cape May County government, which regularly backup their vital data at the Cape May County Records Recovery Center:
Municipalities include: Borough of Avalon.
City of Cape May.
Township of Dennis.
Township of Lower.
Township of Middle.
City of Sea Isle City.
Borough of Stone Harbor.
Borough of West Cape May.
City of Wildwood.
Borough of Wildwood Crest.
Shared service agreements for media storage at the Records Recovery Center was approved by resolution for the following entities:
Cape May County Library Commission.

Those agreements are in addition to Media Storage Agreements already in place for the Borough of Cape May Point, Township of Dennis Township, Township of Middle, Upper Township School District, City of Wildwood and Borough of West Cape May (168-08, 604-08 and 566-09). A total of eight local government entities store media tapes and backups at the Records Recovery Center.
The Records Recovery Center located in Dennis Township was established in 2007 by the county in part with grant funding from the Public Archives and Records Infrastructure Support Program.
The electronic records being backed up and stored at the Records Recovery Center represents a significant and critical component of the overall disaster preparedness of Cape May County.
Located on high ground and over 20 miles from the seat of county government, the center performs automatic backup of vital electronic records and will provide a hot site for re-establishment of government operations in the wake of a disaster.
This project is managed by Cape May County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti, Sheppard Taylor, director and R. Jeffrey Thomson, assistant director Cape May County Department of Management Information Services.
