More to Trash

By Vince Conti

AVALON – Avalon Business Administrator Scott Wahl briefed Avalon Borough Council on changes to the Cape May County recycling program July 10. Wahl relayed information from the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority.
Wahl reported beginning Oct. 1, “bulky mixed rigid plastics,” hard plastics regardless of size, would no longer be accepted by the county’s recycling facility. Examples of these plastics include plastic laundry baskets, plastic toys, plastic lawn furniture, and empty plastic trash cans.
The recycling facility would also no longer accept shredded paper.
Wahl said bulky mixed rigid plastics and shredded paper should be disposed of as trash intended for the landfill.
