NORTH CAPE MAY- Mitnick Park, one of Lower Township’s best kept secrets for recreation, has received an upgrade with resurfaced tennis and basketball courts.
Mitnick Park is the latest in a series of park improvements for township residents, according to Lower Township Assistant Superintendent of Parks and Recreation James Ridgway. Tennis and basketball courts at the park were nearly 20 years old before the refurbishment.
The basketball courts were professionally lined and sealed and received glass backboards. Pickleball courts were included inside the tennis courts.
“Next spring, we’ll unveil a new professional volleyball court,” said Ridgway. “We’re adding a rock wall for the kids and a new piece of playground equipment along rubberized safety-mulch for the whole park.”
The park’s soccer field has received an irrigation system. He said all renovations will be completed by next summer. The baseball and tennis court renovations are completed and the courts are in use by the public.
The park has two tennis courts, a basketball court, playground equipment, a pavilion, benches, picnic tables and a youth soccer field.
Mitnick Park is located near the Channels Apartments and Turdo Vineyards.
