Middle’s Property Tax Reward Card Business Enrollments to Begin

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Members of the Middle Township Economic Development Council will visit local businesses within the next few weeks to assist them in signing up for the Shop Middle Township program. All Middle Township businesses are encouraged to participate in this program that promotes and supports a Buy Local initiative. “This program does require participation from local business owners and that’s why Council members will be reaching out to local businesses, starting this week, to assist them in signing up for the program. Members of the Economic Council will have all the information with them to answer any questions about the program,” said Carol Struett, Chairwoman of the Middle Township Economic Development Council.
The Property Tax Reward Card program is a new initiative supported by the Middle Township Economic Development Council and was unanimously approved by Middle Township committee last year. Three major sponsors—Cape Bank, Sunshine Dental, and Rio Auto Body/Hi-Tech Auto—have been secured so that the program can be implemented free of charge to every resident in Middle Township.
Every resident will receive a free Property Tax Reward Card that can be used at participating businesses in Middle Township. Residents who use the card at participating locations are provided with pre-determined property tax rebates as an incentive to shop locally in Middle Township. Businesses are able to customize the incentives offered to patrons. The program will be promoted through a designated webpage at www.PropertyTaxCard.com/MiddleTownship, on Facebook at “Shop Middle Township” and through window decals given to participating businesses.
The first phase of implementing the program is enrolling businesses. Once that is accomplished, the Property Tax Cards will be mailed out to every resident with instructions on how to use it.
“We’re excited to finally get this innovative program off the ground,” Mayor Tim Donohue said. “Our Economic Development Council has laid the groundwork to encourage and incentivize residents to support local businesses. A commitment to buy local means more dollars flowing back into our local economy, opportunities for business expansion and the creation of quality, year-round jobs in Middle Township.”
Businesses can request more information or schedule a meeting to sign up for this program by calling Anne Garrison, Middle Township Economic Development Coordinator, at (609) 465-8731, or at www.MTEconomicDevelopment.com under the “Let’s Connect” button on the home page.
