COURT HOUSE – In response to serious issues raised with the placement of newly-released state prisoners in Rio Grande, Lenny Ward, Director of the Divisions of Parole & Community Programs at the NJ State Parole Board, will be coming to Middle Township to meet with Mayor Tim Donohue and Police Chief Chris Leusner. The meeting, scheduled for Jan. 6 at Town Hall, will address the policies and procedures currently in place for placement of parolees and the rationale behind the current voucher system used to fund their temporary housing.
Chief Leusner has asked for specific histories on several recently parolees. Mr. Ward’s office is gathering this information and he will present his findings at the Jan. 6 meeting.
“If we hope to change this system, we must have a firm grasp on how it currently works and why it seems to be affecting our community so negatively,” Mayor Donohue said. “We thank Mr. Ward for pledging the cooperation of his office in this effort. We are looking forward to working with the Parole Division, as well as other state agencies, to address the serious concerns of our residents.”
