COURT HOUSE — Middle Township officials are seeking funding sources to purchase additional security cameras at essential Township buildings. Business Administrator Connie Mahon is working with the Township’s finance department to secure funding for cameras that may be placed at the Clarence Davies Sports Complex in Goshen, the Public Works Complex in Cape May Court House, and an additional camera for the Martin Luther King Jr. Center in Whitesboro.
“Certainly our recreational facilities deserve the highest level of security because children and their parents attend those facilities on a daily basis”, Mahon said. “And, our Public Works Facility currently has valuable Township assets that can be additionally protected by a security camera. This administration under the leadership of Mayor Tim Donohue is committed to providing our visitors and employees with the safest environment in which to work and play”.
As part of the process to identify the benefits of security cameras at these Township assets, the Middle Township Police Department is conducting site visits to all three properties to perform an analysis to maximize the value of potential camera systems.
The installation of security cameras at essential buildings provides many benefits to individuals who visit those buildings, and to the Township as well. High-resolution cameras can provide a true deterrent for criminal activities that may arise, while providing evidence needed for any investigation of alleged misconduct or theft. Cameras also help the Township capture evidence for any insurance claims that may arise from incidents at Borough facilities.
The Middle Township Department of Revenue and Finance will continue to seek revenue sources to acquire additional security cameras in 2014.
Last month, Middle Township was recognized for its ambitious safety program that educates and protects Township employees in the workplace.
