COURT HOUSE – Arctic cold greeted those who braved the temperatures to attend Middle Township Committee’s Reorganization Jan. 1. All three members of the committee took their oaths of office.
Republican Timothy Donohue was sworn by his brother Superior Court Judge Michael Donohue. Joining him was his wife Carole, daughter Juliana and mother Lenore by his side. Donohue was reelected for another three-year term in November.
He promised to continue to work for a government of positive change and transparency.
Democrat Michael Clark took the oath for another term as mayor. He was sworn in by Sen. Jeff Van Drew while his wife Vicky held the Bible.
Clark spoke of the many new businesses that have opened in the township this past year. He pledged to continue efforts to make the township a “better place to live, work and do business.”
Van Drew also administered the oath to Democrat Jeffrey DeVico with DeVico’s wife Sylvia holding the Bible.
DeVico will continue to serve as deputy mayor. He called attention to a change in the Township Committee’s procedure for 2018, highlighting the establishment of a work session before each regular meeting.
The committee meets twice a month on the first and third Mondays at 6 pm. The work sessions will be held immediately prior at 5 p.m.
