Middle Township Observes Sept. 11 with Solemn Tribute

COURT HOUSE — Middle Township marked the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001 with a procession of fire trucks and ambulances north on Boyd Street from Memorial Field at 12:30 p.m.
Leading the procession was Piper Sean McNeill of North Cape May.
Fire trucks from each of the municipality’s fire districts, Court house, Rio Grande, Green Creek and Goshen formed a semicircle in the municipal parking lot.
Aerial trucks from Court House and Rio Grande formed an archway into the parking lot from which was hung a huge American flag.
Mayor Susan DeLanzo and Committeeman Daniel Lockwood and F. Nathan Doughty briefly addressed those gathered.
Chief of Police Christopher Leusner read a proclamation from Gov. Chris Christie about the observance of Sept. 11.
