COURT HOUSE – At its 6 p.m. meeting, the Middle Township Committee will honor John Hotaling as the May 2015 Employee of the Month. Hotaling, a sewer repairer, began his career with Middle Township in July 2010.
“John has always been a key employee, but lately he has really gone above and beyond to maximize Sewer Department operations,” said Steve Mills, Hotaling’s supervisor. “He was especially helpful during a recent DEP inspection, and he’s a great asset to the department.”
Hotaling cites his co-workers as a favorite part of his job. “They make even unpleasant tasks—and in the Sewer Department there are many of those—fun,” he said.
“I think folks would be surprised that Middle Township, the 8th largest municipality in the state, has only a five-person sewer department.” Mayor Tim Donohue said. “This crew is on call 24/7 to address the many issues involved in keeping things flowing smoothly. John’s hard work and commitment every day are key to the success of this department. He never hesitates to do more than his share.”
A resident of Cape May Court House, Hotaling is married with a 3-month-old son. In his spare time he enjoys playing sports, particularly softball and football. He also serves as a youth track coach. “I enjoy contributing to the community,” said Hotaling.
“Like many Township employees, John takes his job seriously, and that shows in his dedication and commitment to ensuring that Middle Township residents receive only the best in municipal services,” said Deputy Mayor Dan Lockwood.
The Middle Township Employee of the Month program was initiated by the Township Committee to honor employees who exemplify the Township’s commitment to better delivery of services and going the extra mile for residents. The program culminates with the Darius Graham Employee of the Year honor that is named after one of the Township’s most beloved employees in its history.
Nominations for the Employee of the Month Program are available inside Middle Township hall at three locations: Human Resources and Training Department, Administration Department, and on the bulletin board. Residents from the Township who have had a very positive interaction with any Middle Township employee may pick up the one-page nomination form and fill it out in the employee’s behalf. Each month a Township employee will be selected; the winning nominee will receive a certificate at a future Township Committee meeting along with a photograph posted on the bulletin board.
