COURT HOUSE – The Middle Township Department of Public Works broke ground on a new Americans with Disabilities Act compliant playground June 6. The playground is being constructed at the Goshen Sports Complex.
Middle Township received a grant in December 2012 from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Housing and Community Resources, Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program in the amount of $268,182. The funding announcement was made in part by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
The Township has partnered with Gametime, a playground equipment supplier, that resulted in a credit for local matching dollars that will save Middle Township $29,000 on this playground equipment project. The playground is being constructed adjacent to the parking lot for easy access for those with disabilities and will include concrete sidewalks for easy access. ADA-compliant picnic tables are also being added at the Goshen Complex.
Middle Township has also used the grant funding to improve handicapped access to the municipal courtroom and municipal building entrances.
It is anticipated that this playground installation will be completed by mid-summer.
