Middle Police to Be Evaluated on Policies, Procedures

COURT HOUSE — On Aug. 23 and 24, 2010, a team of assessors from the New Jersey Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (NJLEAC) will be coming to the Middle Township Police Department to evaluate the department’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services, according to a release from Chief Chris Leusner.
The Middle Township Police Department was initially accredited in 2006. Verification by the team that the Middle Township Police Department meets the commission’s standards is part of a voluntary process to maintain accreditation.
As part of the on site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments via telephone. The public may call 609-465-6654 on Aug. 24th, 2010, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Telephone comments are limited to five minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with NJLEAC’s standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Middle Township Police Department. For standards contact Sgt. William Adams, Accreditation Manager, 609-465-8700.
Persons wishing to offer written comments about the Middle Township Police Department’s ability to meet the standards for accreditation are requested to write to:

The Middle Township Police Department has to comply with 112 standards in order to be reaccredited. The assessment team is composed of law enforcement practitioners from other agencies in the state.
The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit offices and other areas where compliance can be witnessed.
If reaccreditation is granted, accreditation status is for three years, during which the agency must submit annual reports attesting to continued compliance with those standards under which it received accreditation.
