COURT HOUSE – Middle Township Committee adopted an amendment Dec. 3 regarding the local rent control ordinance. The ordinance is applicable only to mobile home parks which rent spaces for the parking or positioning of mobile homes.
Previously the ordinance limited rent increases to “the average annual growth in the CPI all citizens index for July, August, and September of the previous year.”
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is one federal government measure of inflation or increases in the cost of living.
The change approved by the governing body ends reliance on the CPI and adopts the Social Security Administration’s Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) index for the previous year.
