COURT HOUSE – Middle Township recently implemented new initiatives designed to make it easier for people to remit payments to the township. These efforts are part of the township’s goal to operate all municipal departments more efficiently, as well as to increase Middle’s collection rates.
The Office of the Tax Collector has expanded its accepted payment methods. Residents may pay their taxes in-person or online via www.middletownship.com, and now have the added option of using a credit card. Payments made via credit card will be subject to a 2.5% fee. Online electronic check payments are subject to a $2.50 transaction fee. In the next few weeks, sewer bills will also be able to be paid similarly.
As of last Thursday, the Middle Township Municipal Court has also begun accepting credit cards for in-person payment of court fees and criminal charges. This option seems popular already; the court collected over $1,000 in credit card payments alone that day. Traffic tickets can be paid online at www.middletownship.com or in-person.
“We continue to take the necessary steps to increase our collection rates and improve services for our residents,” Mayor Tim Donohue said. “I want to recognize the efforts of our Court Administrator Deb Becker and our Tax Collector Sandy Beasley in instituting these upgrades in technology and service in an efficient and cost-effective way.”
