Middle Honors Cinowski, Linz

By Helen McCaffrey

RIO GRANDE – For the third year in a row Middle Township Committee met at the Rio Grande Fire House on Route 47 Sept. 15, instead of the Municipal Building in Court House.
The evening began with formal presentations recognizing outstanding residents of the township.
Mayor Timothy Donohue called up Stanley Cinowski of the Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Company. Cinowski has given freely of himself to his community for 50 years. Lyndon Johnson was president when Cinowski began with the fire service. Freeholder E. Marie Hayes arrived to present Cinowski with a commendation from the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
The next recipient of a formal recognition was Employee of the Month Michael Linz. He is the Emergency Medical Service Department chief. He has served for 28 years and this was his first employee of the month award.
His daughter won the award after only three months on the job. Linz joked that he had to learn how from his daughter.
Donohue announced that the week of Sept. 22–27 will be Middle Township Restaurant Week.
Another rabies clinic will be held Sept. 27 between 2 and 3 p.m.
Edward Taylor, chairman of the county Board of Elections, thanked committee and the fire company officials for relocating the polling place from the Social Services building to the fire station. He stated it was a much more accessible place and was happy for the change.
Rio Grande resident Stanley Doniger asked for an update on the work scheduled for the library on Mechanic Street in Court House. He was told that the work on the steps and pillars had been approved and was expected to be completed in four to six months.
