COURT HOUSE – Middle Township Committee heard a presentation April 2 on increasing special events in the municipality. Glenn Davila of Performance Marketing, one of the firms that replied to a recent township proposal request, told committee members that keys to success included having a defined goal and strategy, patience for the long-haul necessary for building brand equity, and a consistent public message.
The township is contemplating four new events this year under the banner of “First Thursday.” The first Thursday of each month from June through September would mark a special event at the amphitheater at the newly created Robert “Ockie” Wisting Recreational Complex.
The township wants to bring added visibility to the community and, in the words of Council member Timothy Donohue, capture some of those tourist dollars from the summer crowds on the islands.
