COURT HOUSE – Middle Township Committee awarded a contract March 4 to Laura Bishop Communications LLC for services of a public information officer. Mayor Timothy Donohue explained that the township “needs to do a better job of publicizing itself.”
In the last couple of years, the township made a number of improvements to help attract tourist dollars that fuel the economy in the county. It has also made many efforts to enhance the quality of life for residents in ways that also appeal to tourists.
The completion of Okie Wisting Recreational Complex in Rio Grande, the summer concerts at that complex, the planned Rio Grande Park off Railroad Avenue and the extensions north and south of the township bike path were all aspects of an effort to increase the municipality’s appeal.
Donohue highlighted the need for a parallel effort to “get the word out” about all that the township has to offer. At the close of the committee meeting, Donohue called the public’s attention to the contract award as something he hopes will pay dividends in the future.
