Middle Alters Traffic Committee Membership

COURT HOUSE – The municipal code of Middle Township establishes a traffic committee charged broadly with the study of “traffic problems of the Township of Middle and to make recommendations to the Township Committee with regard to the resolutions of such problems.”
The early intent was to make the committee a citizen volunteer group supported by non-voting municipal officials. Remarking that the municipality has problems with the committee’s membership, and is seeking to revitalize it, Mayor Timothy Donohue said the committee would be reconstituted with municipal officials only.
The ordinance accomplishing that purpose was adopted Feb. 3.
The committee will consist of the mayor, business administrator, township engineer, county engineer, a representative of each of the municipality’s fire districts, a police department representative, a representative from emergency medical services/rescue and a representative from the state Department of Transportation.
