COURT HOUSE – Mayor Suzanne M. Walters of Stone Harbor Borough is the new First Vice President of the New Jersey State League of Municipalities. Mayor Walters, who previously served as the League’s Second Vice President, was elected Dec. 5 at the League of Municipalities’ Annual Business Meeting in Plainsboro.
As First Vice President of the New Jersey League of Municipalities, Mayor Walters will help guide the association of New Jersey’s 566 municipal governments. She will represent the interests and needs of New Jersey’s local elected officials to county, state, and federal governments.
Suzanne Walters has been mayor of Stone Harbor since 1997. She is a member of the State League of Municipalities Legislative Committee and is Chairwoman of the General Legislation Subcommittee. She is also a member of the Executive Committee of the League’s Women in Municipal Government. Mayor Walters also is a member of the State Council on Affordable Housing.
Mayor Walters is involved in numerous civic, religious and charitable groups in Stone Harbor and in Cape May County. Some of her involvements include the Cape May Regional Medical Center Foundation, Cape May County Chamber of Commerce, Cape Women’s Resource Fund, Our Savior Lutheran Church, Women’s Republican Club of Cape May and Yacht Club of Stone Harbor.
She has a B.S. in Business Administration from St. Joseph’s University. She is a widow and has three children and five grandchildren.
