COURT HOUSE – Middle Township Mayor Tim Donohue has nominated retired Navy Captain Maureen Harden-Lozier to lead the Township’s newly formed Veterans Advisory Board. Harden-Lozier, who was commissioned as an ensign in 1980, served 33 years both Active and Reserve in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps.
The ordinance to form the board was introduced at the Township’s April 6 meeting. Final adoption and appointment of board members is expected to take place on May 4th.
“Captain Harden-Lozier and I had a great conversation about the goals and mission of this new Board,” Mayor Donohue said. “I’m thrilled that she has accepted this position. We have had over 25 applications for the board’s 11 seats. Maureen will have input in forming a board that will have broad representation from the veterans’ community, as well as concerned citizens.”
Harden-Lozier served in many leadership roles throughout her career including Officer-in-Charge of three Fleet Hospital Fort Dix Detachments, Director of Nursing Services—Fleet Hospital Fort Dix, Commanding Officer—Operational Health Support Unit Camp Lejeune, Special Assistant to the Assistant Deputy Surgeon General for Total Force Integration—Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Total Force Integration—Navy Medicine Support Command in Jacksonville, FL.
She received her Bachelor’s degree from Salve Regina College in Newport, R.I. in 1980 and a Masters in Health Administration from University of Phoenix in 2010.
“I am honored to serve as Chair of the Veterans Advisory Board for Middle Township. We have a large veteran population here in Middle Township. We owe it to our veterans to ensure the Township Committee is aware of their needs, enabling the Committee to provide whatever assistance possible. This Board will serve as the veterans’ voice to the Committee and I look forward to paying tribute to our veterans by serving in this role.”
