Mayor Lockwood Thanks Volunteer Board Members

COURT HOUSE – Mayor Daniel D. Lockwood announced the Middle Township 23rd Annual Volunteer Board Appreciation Dinner held on Oct. 19, 2012, at the Avalon Links County Club in Middle Township. The Township hosted 126 Volunteer Board Members. Mayor Lockwood stated “We hold this dinner each year to thank and honor our volunteers who serve on many of Middle Township’s Boards. Volunteers are a critical part of the provision of services in our municipality and I have had the pleasure of working with many of our volunteers that serve on our boards. This dinner is just one small way of saying “thank you” to our members.”
Mayor Lockwood presented the “Volunteer of the Year” award to Anthony “Tony” Anzelone, who has served on Middle Township’s Planning Board since 1998, and as the Chairman since 2005. The Mayor stated “Tony, after volunteering for the Navy, was honorably discharged with a letter of recognition in 1985, was a Board Member of the Lighthouse Church, served 2 terms on the Middle Township School Board and is currently serving on the Cape May County Vo Tech School Board, is a Middle Township Volunteer Fireman, currently serving as Captain in Middle Township Fire Company #1, is married and the father of 4 children. His family has stated to me how proud they are of him for his commitment to the community and setting a great example for them to live by.”
Other awards were also presented by Committeewoman Susan DeLanzo to 19 board members serving 20, 15 and 5 years on various boards. Deputy Mayor Timothy Donohue introduced the Board Chairman of each board, who spoke of what the board has done throughout the year and introduced each board member serving on their board.
