COURT HOUSE – At Middle Township Committee’s July 1 meeting, Mayor Timothy Donohue gave an update on county plans for the former Kmart Plaza.
Donohue talked of a public/private location which would provide improved space for government services. It would also contain retail enterprises which would continue portions of the site on the township’s tax rolls.
Donohue mentioned the relocation of a veterans’ clinic to the property from the Coast Guard Training Center. He also spoke of the intention to move the jobs training service from Wildwood.
In terms of private enterprise use of the location, Donohue said the county signed an agreement with Tractor Supply to establish an outlet in part of the former Kmart.
Donohue also said the county was in discussions with four movie-house national chains about taking over the space vacated by Frank’s Theater.
