Matalucci, Cox Sworn as Dennis Reorganizes

Matthew Cox takes the oath of office from Sen. Michael Testa (R-1st).

By Camille Sailer

DENNISVILLE – Dennis Township Committee held its reorganization Jan. 2 at its municipal building, with Mayor Zeth Matalucci and Committee member Matthew Cox taking their oaths of office for second terms.
Cox, who is responsible for municipal recreation, the senior center and tax office, will continue his duties.
Newly elected Sen. Michael Testa (R-1st) administered the oath of office to each official, the first time he was called upon to do so in this capacity.
“My main focus has always been to run a lean and efficient government,” noted Matalucci. “With that being said, we will keep looking for ways to reduce our costs and make adjustments as needed, all the while still providing residents with the exceptional service they deserve.
“Another area that I will continue to focus on are road and infrastructure improvements. We have been very proactive in applying for grants for road improvements, and fortunate to be awarded them in many instances.
“We will continue working with the county and through the great relationships we have with our new state senator and assemblymen, to identify roads in our area that need repairs or replacement. We are in the process of cleaning and repairing the hundreds of storm drains throughout the township that have been neglected for over a decade.”
After the meeting, Matalucci commented that he is “really excited for our next Ale O’Ween event. This event brought our committee and township employees together.
“For it being the first year, they all banded together and knocked it out of the park. I can’t wait to expand upon this event this year, and perhaps include a winery or two, and maybe a distillery. Every resident who attended couldn’t say enough about how great it was, so we shall do it again.”
